Description: Home remodels often require permits,
from ceiling fans to structural changes. It is best to talk to our
Building Safety Division to determine if you need
any permits for your project.
Examples: Most kitchen and bathroom remodels require
building permits. Building permits are required because remodeling a
kitchen or bathroom often involves changes in the existing
electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and may cause alteration
to the framing of the room. California Law mandates obtaining a
building permit for this type of construction work.
PLEASE NOTE:
This information is for remodeling only NOT for second
story additions, for
second story home information, please visit the 'Second
Story Construction' page.
